Stanley Cup Playoffs: Blues Oust Blackhawks, Get Stars Next; Predators Force Game Seven With Ducks

Two games--both in the Western Conference---were contested on  Monday as the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs continued.

At Nashville:

Mattias Ekholm, James Neal, and Shea Weber each scored a goal while Pekka Rinne saved 26 of 27 shots as the Nashville Predators forced the first game seven in the history of that franchise following their 3-1 road win over the Anaheim Ducks in game six of their conference quarterfinal series.

The series, deadlocked at three games apiece, will be decided on Wednesday night at Anaheim.

At St. Louis:

Jorl Lehtera, Colton Parayko, and Troy Brouwer each scored once while Brian Elliot stopped 31 of 33 shots as the St. Louis Blues ended the Chicago Blackhawks' reign as Stanley Cup champions with their 3-2 home victory that enabled them to win their conference quarterfinal series four games to three.

The Blues will next take on the Dallas Stars in a Western Conference semifinal series.
