Niners Blow 21-Point Lead, Fall To Chargers In OT At Home

At Santa Clara, California:

Quarterback Philip Rivers threw an eleven-yard touchdown pass (his fourth TD pass of the game) to Malcolm Floyd with 29 second remaining in regulation, then, after Gordon Patton's fumble, Nick Novak kicked the game-winning 40-yard field goal at 4:56 of overtime as the San Diego Chargers (9-6) , who twice in the first half trailed by 21 points, came back to upend the sagging San Francisco 49ers (7-8) 38-35 on the road on Saturday night as the visitors kept their playoff chances alive while the Niners found a way to suffer their fourth consecutive defeat, which ruined a solid running performance, led by Frank Gore's 158 yards (including a 52-yard touchdown run) and Colin Kaepernick's 151 (which included a 90-yard TD run; he completed 15 of 24 passes for 114 yards and another score).
