Bahamas Bowl: Hilltoppers Withstand Furious Chippewas Comeback Try In Nassau

At Nassau, Bahamas:

Quarterback Brandon Doughty completed 31 of 42 passes for 486 yards and five touchdowns on Wednesday as the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (8-5) held on to defeat the Central Michigan Chippewas (7-6) in the inaugural edition of the Bahamas Bowl, the first major-college bowl game to be played outside the United States and Canada since New Year's Day, 1937.  Chippewas quarterback Cooper Rush completed 28 of 45 passes for 482 yards and a college bowl-game record seven touchdowns (four of them to Titus Davis) as CMU battled back from a 35-point deficit at the end of the third quarter and made it a one-point game on the final play of regulation (a wild play in which six Chips handled the football), only to see his two-point conversion pass attempt fall incomplete.
