Stanley Cup Playoffs: Overtime Wins For Penguins, Wild; Senators Crush Habs; Sharks One Win Away From Ousting Canucks

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued with four games on Sunday.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Uniondale, New York:

In the first playoff game to be played on Long Island since 2007, Chris Kunitz scored his second power-play goal of the game, at 8:44 of the first overtime period as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Islanders 5-4 on the road to take a two-games-to-one lead in their conference quarterfinal series.

At Ottawa:

Jean-Gabriel Pageau delivered his first career playoff hat trick as the Ottawa Senators scored five goals in the third period en route to a 6-1 game-three fight-marred home fist-beating of the Montreal Canadiens.  The two teams combined for 236 penalty minutes while nine players were given a game misconduct.  The Senators now lead the first-round series two games to one.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At St. Paul, Minnesota:

Jeff Zucker scored the winning goal at 2:15 of overtime as the Minnesota Wild took game three of their opening-round series with the Chicago Blackhawks (who still lead it two games to one) 3-2 at home.

At San Jose, California:

Joe Pavelski (one on a power play) and Logan Couture (both power-play) each scored twice as the San Jose Sharks put the Vancouver Canucks on the brink of elimination with a 5-2 home win in game three of  their conference quarterfinal series, which the Sharks lead three games to none.  The Sharks will go for the first playoff-series sweep in franchise history on Tuesday night at home.
