Stanley Cup Playoffs: Easy Series-Opening Wins For Penguins, Bruins; Sharks Knock Off Canucks In Game One

Three games were played on Wednesday as the Stanley Cup Playoffs continued.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Pittsburgh:

Pascal Dupuis scored twice while Beau Bennett and Kris Letang each added a power-play goal as the Pittsburgh Penguins demolished the visiting New York Islanders (making their first playoff appearance since 2007) 5-0 in the opening game of their conference quarterfinal series.  Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 26 shots to post the shutout.

At Boston:

Wade Redden, Nathan Horton (power play), David Krejci, and Johnny Boychuk each scored a goal as the Boston Bruins overcame an early deficit and wound up dominating the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs (making their first playoff appearance since 2004) 4-1 in the opening contest of their conference quarterfinal series.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Dan Boyle, Logan Couture (power play), and Patrick Marleau each delivered a goal as the San Jose Sharks knocked off the Vancouver Canucks 3-1 on the road in the first game of their best-of-seven opening-round series.
