In the Major League Soccer regular-season finale for both clubs on Sunday, Darlington Nagbe scored twice in the first half (5', 33') while Jorge Villafana (63') and Fanendo Adi (88'); his franchise record 16th tally of the season) each delivered a second-half goal as the Portland Timbers dominated the visiting Colorado Rapids 4-1 to lock up a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs for the second time in three years.
The Timbers, who finished third in the Western Conference standings, will host Sporing Kansas City in a knockout-round match this coming Thursday at 7:00 PM Pacific Time (UniMas, ROOT Sports Northwest).
