At Pittsburgh:
Jake Arrieta pitched a complete-game four-hit 11-strikeout shutout (his club's first CG shutout in post-season play in 70 years) while Kyle Schwarber had an RBI single in the first inning and a two-run homer in the fourth as the Chicago Cubs won a playoff game for the first time since 2003 with a 4-0 road domination of the Pittsburgh Pirates in Wednesday's National League Wild-Card game.
The Cubs will open their National League divisional playoff series (best-of-five) against the Cardinals in St. Louis on Friday.
