Timbers Level On Points With Sounders Atop MLS West After Road Win Over Seattle

 At Portland, Oregon:

Yimmi Chara scored his third goal in as many games in the 13th minute on Wednesday while Steve Clark made six saves for his second shutout of the season as the Portland Timbers defeated the visiting Seattle Sounders 1-0 in Major League Soccer action.

The Timbers now have won two straight games, three of their last four, and are on a four-match unbeaten run.

The Timbers are tied for first place atop the Western Conference standings with the Sounders, although Seattle has the superior goal differential (+15, compared to Portland's +2).

The Timbers' next match is at Portland's Providence Park against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday at 7:00 PM Pacific Time (ROOT Sports Northwest/ESPN+); this is technically a Whitecaps home game.
