At Louisville, Kentucky:
In Saturday's 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby, Always Dreaming, a 9-2 co-favorite with John Velazquez aboard, finished ahead of 19 other horses to win the Run for the Roses on a sloppy track at Churchill Downs. For both Mr. Velazquez and trainer Todd Pletcher, it was each his second Derby victory.
Lookin At Lee finished second with Battle of Midway third.
Always Dreaming is expected to run in the Preakness Stakes, to be run Saturday after next at Pimlico, near Baltimore.
