Two games were played in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Regional on Thursday, both contested at Auburn Hill Michigan.
In the opener, Tim Hardaway, Jr. scored 21 points as the #4-seeded Michigan Wolverines (27-7) defeated the 13th-seeded South Dakota State Jackrabbits (25-10) 71-56.
#5-seeded Virginia Commonwealth, in the nightcap, crushed #12-seeded Akron 88-42, which stood for a few hours as the most lopsided victory in the tournament by a school seeded third or worse. Troy Daniels scored 23 points and Juvonte Reddic added 21 to pace the Rams.
