Nick Stauskas scored 22 points as the #4 Michigan Wolverines (30-7) dominated the #3 Florida Gators (29-8) 78-59 on Sunday to win the South Regional final of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and advance to their first Final Four since back-to-back appearances in 1992 and 1993.
The Wolverines will face Syracuse on Saturday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta in the second national semifinal contest (5:49 PM Pacific Time, CBS).

NCAA South: Late Three-Pointer In Regulation Make Wolverines OT Win Possible; Gators End Eagles Magical Carpet Ride
The South Regional of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament played its' semifinal round with two games contested at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
In the opener, Trey Burke, who scored 23 points, delivered a game-tying three-point basket in the final seconds of regulation time as the #4 Michigan Wolverines (29-7) came back from a 10-point deficit with three minutes remaining in regulation to post an 87-85 overtime win over the top seeded Kansas Jayhawks (31-6). All five of the Wolverines' starters, paced by Mitch McGary with 25 points (to go with his 14 rebounds), scored in double figures. Michigan has advanced to the elite eight for the first time since 1994.
In the nightcap, Mike Rosario scored 15 points as #3 Florida (29-7) ended #15 Florida Gulf Coast's magical ride (and seven-game winning streak; they finish at 26-11) with a 62-50 triumph. The Gators will take part in their third successive Elite Eight.
Florida and Michigan will play in the South Regional final on Sunday (11:20 AM Pacific Time, CBS) for a trip to Atlanta and the Final Four.

NCAA South: Eagles Shock Aztecs, Make History; Jayhawks Turn Back Heels; Gators Too Much For Gophers
Three games were played on Sunday in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Regional.
At Kansas City, Missouri:
Travis Releford scored 22 points while Jeff Withey added 16 to go with his 16 rebounds as the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (31-5) overcame a nine-point halftime deficit and upended the #8-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (25-11) 70-58.
At Austin, Texas:
Mike Rosario scored 25 points as the #3-seeded Florida Gators (28-7) defeated #11-seeded Minnesota (21-13) 78-64 despite 25 points from the Golden Gophers' Andre Hollins.
At Philadelphia:
Bernard Thompson, one of five player who scored in double-figures, delivered 23 points as the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (26-10) became the first-ever #15 seed to advance to the Sweet Sixteen with their 81-71 victory over seventh-seeded San Diego State (23-11) , despite a 20-point, 11-rebound effort from the Aztecs' Jamaal Franklin. The Eagles shot 55.9% from the field in the game.

In the lone Saturday NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament South Regional contest, Mitch McGary scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as fourth-seeded Michigan (28-7) dominated fifth-seeded Virginia Commonwealth (27-9) 78-53 to reach the regional semifinals. This will mark the Wolverines' first appearance in the Sweet Sixteen sinve 1994.

NCAA South: Debutant Eagles Shock Hoyas; Tar Heels Top Nova, Set Up Matchup With Jayhawks (Who Outlast Plucky Hilltoppers); Aztecs Top Sooners;Gophers Too Much For UCLA

At Philadelphia:
In the first of two South Regional games contested at the Wells Fargo Center, Sherwood Brown scored 24 points and Bernard Thompson added 23 as the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (25-10), the tournament's lone debutant, in only their second season as a team eligible for Division I postseason play, became only the seventh #15 seed to knock off a #2 seed by defeating Georgetown (25-7) 78-68.
In the second contest, Jamaal Franklin scored 21 points as the seventh-seeded San Diego State Aztecs (23-10) topped the Oklahoma Sooners (20-12) 70-55, despite 22 points from the Sooners' Romero Osby.

In the first of two South Region contests at the Sprint Center, P.J. Hairston scored 23 points as the #8-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (25-10) defeated the #9-seeded Villanova Wildcats (20-14) 78-71.
In the second match, Jeff Withey scored 17 points as the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (30-5) survived a scare from #16-seeded Western Kentucky (20-16) 64-57.

In the opening game at the Frank Erwin Center, Erik Murphy had 18 points to lead four players in double digits as the #3-seeded Florida Gators (27-7) dominated the fourteenth-seeded Northwestern State Demons (23-9) 79-47.

NCAA South: Wolverines, VCU Set Up Saturday Duel
Two games were played in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Regional on Thursday, both contested at Auburn Hill Michigan.
In the opener, Tim Hardaway, Jr. scored 21 points as the #4-seeded Michigan Wolverines (27-7) defeated the 13th-seeded South Dakota State Jackrabbits (25-10) 71-56.
#5-seeded Virginia Commonwealth, in the nightcap, crushed #12-seeded Akron 88-42, which stood for a few hours as the most lopsided victory in the tournament by a school seeded third or worse. Troy Daniels scored 23 points and Juvonte Reddic added 21 to pace the Rams.
