Fredy Montero scored the only goal of the lone Friday Major League Soccer contest in the ninth minute as the Vancouver Whitecaps snapped the Portland Timbers' three-game winning streak with a 1-0 Cascadia Cup home victory.
Goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau saved five shots for the shutout and victory for the Caps.
The Timbers will head to Houston for an encounter against the Dynamo in their next-to-last contest of their 12-game road trip this coming Wednesday at 5:30 PM Pacific Time (ROOT Sports Northwest; ESPN+).
