Timbers Knock Off Rapids, Keep Playoff Chances Alive

At Portland, Oregon:

Fanendo Adi successfully converted a penalty kick in the 35th minute on Sunday as the Portland Timbers, in their regular-season home finale,  defeated the visiting Colorado Rapids 1-0 to keep their Major League Soccer playoff chances alive.

The Timbers' next match is this coming Wednesday night at 10:00 PM Pacific Time as they conclude Group B play in the CONCACAF Champions League, needing a home victory over Costa Rica's Deportivo Saprissa to advanced to that tournament's quarterfinal round.

Portland will conclude their MLS regular-season campaign next Sunday on the road against the Vancouver Whitecaps (1:00 PM Pacific Time, ROOT Sports Northwest).
