MLB Playoffs: Bruce Bochy Turns Into Charlie Brown As Cubs Score Four Runs Off Five Relievers In Ninth To Oust Giants; Dodgers Win Late To Square Series With Nats At 2-2

Both National League divisional playoff series continued on Tuesday.

At Los Angeles:

Chase Utley delivered the single that produced the go-ahead run with two outs in the eighth inning as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the visiting Washington Nationals 6-5 to square their divisional playoff series at two games apiece.

The series is set to be decided at Washington on Thursday.

At San Francisco:

Javier Baez delivered the go-ahead run with his single to cap off a four-run ninth inning against five relief pitchers, then Aroldis Chapman struck out the side in the bottom of said inning as the Chicago Cubs erased a three-run deficit to overcome the San Francisco Giants 6-5 and won their divisional playoff series three games to one.

The Cubs will host the opening game of the National League Champions Series (their second successive) on Saturday against the winner of the Los Angeles-Washington series (currently deadlocked at two games apiece) as the Cubs are seeking their first National League pennant since 1945 (and first World Series crown since 1908).
