MLB Playoffs: Nats Ambush Dodgers To Take 2-1 NLDS Lead; Extra-Inning Heroics Keep Giants Alive Against Cubbies

Both National League divisional playoff series continued on Monday.

At Los Angeles:

Jayson Werth hit a home run as the Washington Nationals scored four runs in the ninth inning for a 8-3 game-three road win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to take a two-games-to-one divisional playoff series lead.

The Nationals can wrap up the series and advance to their first National League Championship Series since 1981 (as the Montreal Expos) with a win in Los Angeles in game four on Tuesday.

At San Francisco:

Brandon Crawford scored the winning run in the 13th inning on a base hit by Joe Panik as the San Francisco Giants avoided elimination by defeating the visiting Chicago Cubs 6-5 in game three of their divisional playoff series.

The Cubs, who lead the series two games to one, can still secure their second straight National League Championship Series appearance with a game four road win on Tuesday.
