Stanley Cup Playoffs: Habs Take 2-0 Series Lead; Caps, Blackhawks, Canucks Square Respective Series At 1-1

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Friday with four games.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Montreal:

Alex Galchenyuk scored the winning goal scored the winning goal 3:40 into overtime as the Montreal Canadiens opened up a two-games-to-none advantage in their conference quarterfinal series with the Ottawa Senators following their 3-2 game-two home victory.

At Washington:

Karl Alzner, Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom (power play), and, with the game winner at 7:37 of the third period, Jason Chimera, all scored once as the Washington Capitals erased a 3-1 deficit and squared their opening-round series with the New York Islanders at one game apiece following their 4-3 game-two home win.



WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Nashville, Tennessee:

Craig Smith scored twice as the Nashville Predators manhandled the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 in game two to square their conference quarterfinal series at a game apiece.

At Vancouver, British Columbia:

Eddie Lack stopped 22 of 23 shots while Daniel Sedin, Chris Higgins (power play), Ronalds Kenins, and Radim Vrbata (empty net) each delivered a goal as the Vancouver Canucks dominated the visiting Calgary Flames 4-1 in game two to level their series at one game apiece.
