At Santa Clara, California:
Rodney Wallace scored twice in the second half (71', 74') as the Portland Timbers came from behind to defeat the ten-man San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on the road in Saturday night Major League Soccer action, eliminating the Quakes from MLS Cup playoff contention.
The Timbers climbed back to within one point of the Vancouver Whitecaps (who earlier blanked FC Dallas 2-0 on the road) for the fifth and final Western Conference playoff berth.
Portland and San Jose will go at it again this coming Wednesday at Portland at 7:30 PM Pacific Time (ROOT Sports Northwest and Comcast SportsNet California).
