ACLS: ROYALS HOLD OFF ORIOLES, COMPLETE CHAMPIONSHIP-SERIES SWEEP, WIN FIRST AL TITLE SINCE 1985; GET HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE IN WORLD SERIES; LORENZO CAIN NAMED SERIES MVP

At Kansas City:

Jason Vargas combined with three relievers on a four-hitter while Greg Holland picked up his fourth save of the series on Wednesday as the Kansas City Royals completed a four-game sweep of the American League Championship Series with a 2-1 game-four win over the visiting Baltimore Orioles.

Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain was named the series' Most Valuable Player.

Thanks to the American League's victory in this year's All-Star Game, the Royals, league champions for the first time since 1985, will have home-field advantage in this year's World Series, with the opening game to take place at Ewing Kaufman Stadium on Tuesday against the winner of the National League Championship Series between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.
