Both American League divisional playoff series continued---and concluded---on Sunday.
At Detroit:
Nelson Cruz hit a two-run homer in the 6th inning as the Baltimore Orioles held off the Detroit Tigers 2-1 on the road to complete a three-game sweep of their divisional playoff series and advanced to their first American League Championship Series since 1997.
At Kansas City:
Alex Gordon delivered a bases-clearing double in the first inning while Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas each hit a home run as the Kansas City Royals completed a three-game divisional playoff series sweep of the Los Angeles Angels (who had the best overall record in Major League Baseball during the regular season) with a 8-3 home victory (their seventh straight post-season win) in game three and advanced to their first American League Championship Series since 1985.
The Royals and Orioles open up the American League Championship Series (best of seven) this coming Friday in Baltimore.
