The two-time former head football coach at Oregon State (as well as ex-head coach at Nebraska and the then-San Diego Chargers) was named on Thursday as head coach of the San Antonio entry in the new Alliance of American Football.

JUSTIFY LEADS WIRE-TO-WIRE IN WINNING 150TH BELMONT STAKES AND TRIPLE CROWN (BECOMING THE 13TH HORSE TO DO SO)

Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Justify (shown here) led wire-to-wire and won Saturday's 150th running of the Belmont Stakes and became the 13th horse to win the coveted Triple Crown.
Gronkowski finished second and Hofburg finished third.
Mike Smith, at age 52, became the oldest jockey to win the Triple Crown.
Trainer Bob Baffert won his second Triple Crown (to go with American Pharoah's 2015 triumph), becoming the second trainer to do so.
Justify became the second horse to go undefeated en route to the Triple Crown title (Seattle Slew, 1977).

The Portland Timbers, as a result of Thursday's draw for the US Open Cup's Round of 16, will host the Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday, June 15 at 8:00 PM Pacific Time.
Red Schoendienst, Oldest Living Baseball Hall Of Famer, R.I.P.
Baseball Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst, who spent 76 years in baseball----67 of them with the St. Louis Cardinals as player, coach, manager, and special assistant, passed away on Wednesday at age 95.
Mr. Schoendienst played on the Cardinals' 1946 World Series championship squad, was coach on St. Louis' 1964 World Series title team, then managed the Redbirds to the 1967 World Series championship.

Dwight Clark, 49ers Wide Receiver Best Remembered For "The Catch," R.I.P.
Dwight Clark, the wide receiver whose touchdown catch (shown here) in the 1981 NFC Championship Game carried the San Francisco 49ers to their first Super Bowl appearance, passed away on Monday at age 61.
Mr. Clark had been suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Dwight played on the 49ers' first two Super Bowl title teams.

Stanley Cup Final: Caps Prove Too Much For Golden Knights; Washington One Victory Away From First Stanley Cup Title

Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson added 26 and 20 points respectively to the Warriors' coffers. The former grabbed nine rebounds.
