CAPS OVERCOME GOLDEN KNIGHTS TO WIN FIRST STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONSHIP; ALEX OVECHKIN WINS CONN SMYTHE TROPHY AS PLAYOFF MVP

At Las Vegas, Nevada:

Jakub Vrana, Alex Ovechkin (power play; he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoffs MVP), Devante Smith-Pelly, and Lars Eller each scored a goal on Thursday as the Washington Capitals came back from a 3-2 deficit after two periods of play to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on the road in game five of the Stanley Cup Final and won the first Stanley Cup title in their 44-year history four games to two.

Here are the jubilant Capitals after winning that long sought-after Lord Stanley's Cup.
