In Saturday Major League Soccer action, Diego Valeri successfully converted a penalty kick for the equalizer in the 57th minute, enabling the Portland Timbers to gain a 1-1 home draw with the Los Angeles Galaxy as their six-game winning streak ended but their unbeaten streak now reached seven games.
Chris Pontius scored for the Galaxy in the 20th minute.
Next up for the Timbers, a home contest on Wednesday in the fourth round of the US Open Cup against the San Jose Earthquakes at 7:30 PM Pacific Time.
Portland's next league match is at home on Saturday night against Sporting Kansas City (7:30 PM Pacific Time, ROOT Sports Northwest)
