The Alliance of American Football filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy (liquidation) on Wednesday.

The Alliance is now out of business.

Of just how shoddy the Alliance's operation may have been.

In some areas, it even made the 1970s World Football League look good.

At least the WFL (like the original XFL) did finish off its' first season.

With The Alliance Mothballed...........

Will we ever see another American Football League; that is one that would end up becoming a truly successful alternative to the NFL?

The odds aren't too good.

The AFL was the only one of the startup leagues that popped up in the years after World War II to truly be successful, though four former AAFC clubs did make it into the NFL, with the Cleveland Browns playing in six straight NFL title games after winning all four All-America Conference crowns (1946-49).

At least the WFL and original XFL did make to their respective title games.

Hotshots Knock Off Commanders In San Antonio To Forge A Tie Atop The West Standings

At San Antonio, Texas:

In Sunday action from the Alliance of American Football, Rashad Ross caught four passes for 78 yards and a touchdown as the Arizona Hotshots (5-3) dominated the San Antonio Commanders (5-3) 23-6 on the road to create a tie atop the Western Conference standings with two regular-season games remaining.

Quarterback Logan Woodside completed 17 of 23 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns while running back Kenneth Farrow II ran for another score on Sunday as the San Antonio Commanders (4-2) dominated the Atlanta Legends (2-4) 37-6 in Alliance of American Football action.

Commanders Hold On For Wild Road Win Over Hotshots

At Tempe, Arizona:

In Sunday Alliance of American Football action, quarterback Logan Woodside completed 21 of 27 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns (one each to Makale McKay and Stehly Reden) while running back Kenneth Farrow II ran for another score on Sunday as the San Antonio Commanders (3-2) held off the Arizona Hotshots (3-2) 29-25 on the road.

Commanders Knock Off Iron In Birmingham

At Birmingham, Alabama:

Running back Kenneth Farrow II set an Alliance of American Football single-game record on Sunday with 142 yards on the ground while fellow running back Trey Williams ran 12 yards for a touchdown (and Nick Rose kicked two field goals) as the San Antonio Commanders (2-2) knocked off the previously-unbeaten Birmingham Iron (3-1) 12-11 on the road.

Commanders Fall To Fleet In San Diego

At San Diego:

Running back Ju'Quan Gardner ran for an Alliance of American Football single-game record 121 yards, 83 of them on the longest-scoring play in AAF history for a touchdown as the San Diego Fleet (2-1) avenged their opening-night defeat by running down the visiting San Antonio Commanders (1-2) 31-11 on Sunday.
