NCAA South: Hawkeyes, Vols, Sooners, Cavaliers, Anteaters, Ducks (Who Overpower Badgers) Advance

The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Round of 64 concluded on Friday with 16 games, six of them in the South Region.

At Nationwide Arena, Columbus, Ohio:

Game #1:

Luka Garza scored 20 points while Joe Wieskamp added 19 as the tenth-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes (23-11) knocked off the seventh-seeded Cincinnati Bearcats (28-7) 79-72.

Game #2:

Admiral Schofield scored 19 points as the second-seeded Tennessee Volunteers (30-5) brushed off fifteenth-seeded Colgate (24-11) 77-70.

Jordan Burns topped the Raiders with 32 points.



At Colonial Life Arena, Columbia, South Carolina:

Game #1:

Christian James and Rashard Odomes each scored 20 points as the ninth-seeded Oklahoma Sooners (20-13) overpowered the eighth-seeded Ole Miss Rebels (20-13) 95-72.

Game #2:

De'Andre Hunter scored 23 points as the top-seeded Virginia Cavaliers (30-3) avoided a repeat of their historic upset defeat at the hands of the University of Maryland-Baltimore by taking care of business against sixteenth-seeded Gardner Webb (23-12), spoiling the Bulldogs' NCAA tourney debut 71-56.



At SAP Center, San Jose, California:

Game #1:

Max Hazzard and Evan Leonard each scored 19 points as the #13-seeded UC-Irvine Anteaters knocked off the #4-seeded Kansas State Wildcats 70-64 for their first-ever NCAA tourney victory.

The Anteaters have now won 17 straight games.

Game #2:

Payton Pritchard scored 19 points as the 12th-seeded Oregon Ducks (24-12) picked up their ninth straight victory after a 72-54 overpowering of the fifth-seeded Wisconsin Badgers (23-11).
