NCAA Midwest: Auburn, Jayhawks, UK, Wofford Advance

The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Round of 64 commenced on Thursday with 16 games, four of them in the Midwest Region.

At Vivint Smart Home Arena, Salt Lake City, Utah:

Game #1:

Jared Harper scored 17 points as the fifth-seeded Auburn Tigers (27-9) registered a hard-fought 78-77 victory over the 12th-seeded New Mexico State Aggies (30-5).

Game #2:

Dedric Lawson scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the fourth-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (26-9) mauled the #13-seeded Northeastern Huskies (23-11) 87-53.


At VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida:

Game #1:

Keldon Johnson scored 25 points as the second-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (28-6) manhandled #15-seeded Abilene Christian (27-7) 79-44, spoiling those other Wildcats' NCAA tourney debut.

Game #2:

Fletcher Magee scored 24 points as the seventh-seeded Wofford Terriers (30-4) garnered their first-ever NCAA tournament victory by defeating the tenth-seeded Seton Hall Pirates (20-14) 84-68.

Myles Powell topped the Pirates with 27 points.
