Bob And Ray: Together Again

Bob Elliot, who as half of the famed comedy team of Bob and Ray, purveyed that distinctly low-key brand of humor on radio and television for more than four decades, passed away on Tuesday at his Cundy's Harbor, Maine home at age 92.

Bob's son Chris, himself an actor and comedian, confirmed his father's passing and that he had throat cancer.

Bob was the more soft-spoken half of the comedy team, while Ray Goulding  (who passed away in 1990) was the more blustery half.

Perhaps Bob's best known character was the intrepid radio reporter Wally Ballou, who also seemed to start his reports about a half-second late.  Ray played all of Wally's interview subjects.

Amongst the television ads that the boys made were those they did for New York-based brewers Bert and Harry Piel in the 1950s, such as the one above, as Bob and Ray did voices as animated spokesmen.
