Tom Bosley, the actor best remembered for his portrayal of Milwaukee hardware store proprietor Howard (Mr. C) Cunningham, husband of Marion and father of Richie, Joanie, and Chuck, as well as landlord to Arthur (The Fonz) Fonzerelli on the long-running television series Happy Days (1974-84) , passed away on Tuesday morning at a hospital near his Palm Springs, California home at age 83 from heart failure.
His agent also reported that Mr. Bosley was also battling lung cancer.

Boy, R. I. P.
Johnny Sheffield, the former child actor who played the role of Boy in the Tarzan movies of the late 1930s and 1940s with Johnny Weismuller, passed away this past Friday at his Chula Vista, California home from a heart attack at age 79, four hours after having fallen off a ladder while pruning a palm tree.
Mr. Sheffield went on to star in his own series of films playing the role of Bomba the Jungle Boy.
After leaving Hollywood, Johnny went on to earn a business degree at UCLA and eventually went into real estate.

Ducks Top AP Poll For First Time; Also Tops In Coaches Poll; Second To Sooners In BCS Rankings
For the first time in their history, the Oregon Ducks top the Associated Press media poll as the number one team in the country. The AP poll is not part of the formula for the Bowl Championship Series rankings. However, the USA Today/Coaches Poll, which the Ducks also top, is part of that formula. In the first BCS rankings of the season, which came out on Sunday, the Ducks are at #2, trailing only Oklahoma. Boise State is ranked third.
As for Oregon State, after the Beavers' heartbreaking double-overtime defeat at Washington Saturday night, they have fallen off the AP rankings (they were at #24 a week ago). Still, they managed to get a few votes and would be ranked #34.

Krafft from Norman Lippicott's novel of the same name, this movie was produced by Maury M. Cohen and directed by Frank R. Strayer. Invincible, which was a sister organzation to Chesterfield Pictures, was among several small outfits absorbed into the newly-formed Republic Pictures.

The Rangers won a playoff series for the first time in their 50-year history, a series which became the first in Major League Baseball postseason history in which the road team won every game.
The Rangers will open up the American League Championship Series against the New York Yankees at home on Friday night at Arlington, Texas, with the second game slated for Saturday afternoon.
