The quarterfinal round of the West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament took place with four games on Saturday at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada.
Game #1:
Eric Mika scored 25 points while Nick Emery added 21 as the #3-seeded BYU Cougars (22-10) downed sixth-seeded Loyola Marymount (15-15) 89-81. Brandon Brown paced the Lions with 22 points.
Game #2:
As part of a 28-point performance, Jared Brownridge converted all eleven free-throw shots as the fourth-seeded Santa Clara Broncos (17-15) upended #5-seeded San Francisco (20-12) 76-69, offsetting 33 points from the Dons' Ronnie Boyce.
Game #3:
Jordan Matthews scored 22 points while Nigel Williams-Goss added 20 as the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (30-1;#4 in the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls), after only leading by two points at halftime, smashed the game wide open by outscoring Pacific (11-22) 55-25 in the second half in putting away the ninth-seeded Tigers 82-50. T.J. Wallace topped the Tigers with 21 points.
Game #4
Calvin Hermanson scored 21 points (while hitting five three-point shots in the process) and Jock Landale added 19 as the #2-seeded Saint Mary's Gaels (27-3; #20 AP, #18 Coaches) defeated the #10-seeded Portland Pilots (11-22) 81-58.
Jazz Johnson led the Pilots (who were outrebounded 38-23) with 26 points as Portland's season came to a conclusion.
