The Pacific-12 Conference's men's basketball tournament opened on Wednesday as the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada (near Las Vegas) with four opening-round games.
Game #1:
Obinna Oleka scored 27 points (while grabbing 13 rebounds) while Tra Holder added 21 as the eighth-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils (15-17), with all five starters scoring in double digits, outlasted ninth-seeded Stanford (14-17) 98-88 in overtime.
Reid Travis paced the Cardinal with 23 points.
Game #2:
Jabari Bird scored 20 points as the #5-seeded California Golden Bears (20-11) held off the #12-seeded Oregon State Beavers (5-27) 67-62.
Stephen Thompson, Jr. paced the Beavers with 25 points.
Game #3:
Derrick White scored 26 points (17 of them in the second half) while Xavier Johnson added 17 as the seventh-seeded Colorado Buffaloes (19-13) defeated the tenth-seeded Washington State Cougars (13-18) 73-63.
Game #4:
Chimezie Metu scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the sixth-seeded Southern California Trojans (24-8) advanced to the quarterfinals (and kept their NCAA tournament hopes alive) after holding off the #11-seeded Washington Huskies (9-22) 78-73.
David Crisp scored 22 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out seven assists for the Huskies, who suffered a school-record 13th successive defeat.
