Two games were contested at the University of Dayton Arena in (where else?) Dayton, Ohio as the First Four portion of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament came to a close.
In the opener, Chima Moneke scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the UC Davis Aggies (23-12), in their NCAA Tourney debut, overcame 18 turnovers and overcame the North Carolina-Central Eagles (25-9) 67-63.
The Aggies, as a #16 seed, will face top-seeded Kansas in a Midwest Regional contest on Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma
In the nightcap, Bennie Boatwright scored a career-high 24 points as the Southern California Trojans (25-9) overcame a 17-point second-half deficit to knock off the Providence Friars (20-13) 75-71 as the Trojans avenged their defeat in last year's opening round to the Big East Conference school.
Southern Cal, as a #11 seed, will take on sixth-seeded Southern Methodist in a East Regional match on Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
