Meadowlark Lemon, the iconic prankster whose smooth showmanship was the hallmark of his 24 years (1954-78) with the barnstorming basketball team known as the Harlem Globetrotters, passed away at Scottsdale, Arizona at age 83.
During his 24 years with the Globetrotters, Mr. Lemon became famous for his long-distance hook shots, sublime passing, and pranks such as dumping confetti on unsuspecting game referees.
Meadowlark was inducted to the Naismaith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.
