Little Jimmy Dickens, Longtime "Opry" Member, Country Music Legend, R.I.P.

Little Jimmy Dickens, a longtime member of the Grand Ole Opry cast best remembered for his classic 1965 recording "May The Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose," passed away at a Nashville hospital on Friday from cardiac arrest at age 94.

Mr. Dickens was the oldest member of the Opry cast, which he joined in 1948.

At four-feet, eleven-inches in height, West Virginia-born Jimmy was perhaps short on height, but big in voice.  He was known by the nickname Tater (supplied to him by Hank Williams), a nod to his 1949 hit "Take an Old Cold Tater (and Wait)."

His most-remebered hit, the aforementioned "May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose" spent two weeks on the top of Billboard's Country and Western chart and crossed over into the top 20 on the Pop charts.

Jimmy was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1983 and was still performing on the Opry into his 90s.
