Anita Ekberg, the Swedish-born actress who starred in the Federico Fellini 1960 motion picture "La Dolce Vita," passed away on Sunday at Rocca di Papa, Italy at age 83.
The cause of Miss Ekberg's passing was complications from a long illness, according to her attorney.
Anita was cast by Mr. Fellini as a hedonistic American actress who was visiting Rome:
"A single moonlit scene — in which she wades into the Trevi Fountain in a
strapless evening gown, turns her face ecstatically to the fountain’s
waterfall and seductively calls Marcello Mastroianni’s character, a
jaded journalist, to join her — established her place in cinema history."
