Don Harron, the Canadian actor, writer, and comedian who is best remembered by American television viewers for his portrayal as his country bumpkin alter ego Charlie Farquharson (a character he had developed years earlier in Canada) during his 1969-86 stint on the long-running Hee Haw, passed away on Saturday at his home in his native Toronto at age 90.
At the end, Mr. Harron, who was a Canadian entertainment icon, was surrounded by family members after electing not to seek further treatment for cancer.
