Gaston's Late Equalizer Carries Timbers To Road Draw With Rapids; Portland Trails Vancouver By One Point For Final Western Conference Playoff Berth

At Commerce City, Colorado:

Gaston Fernandez delivered the equalizer in the 76th minute on Saturday night as the Portland Timbers settled for a 2-2 Major League Soccer road draw with the Colorado Rapids, whose franchise-record losing streak ended at seven games.  Diego Valeri also scored for the Timbers in the 43rd minute.  Dillon Powers (PK-48') and Deshorn Brown (66') delivered the Rapids' goals as the Timbers now find themselves trailing the Vancouver Whitecaps (2-1 road losers to FC Dallas) by one point for the final Western Conference playoff berth.

The Timbers will host CD Olimpia of Honduras this coming Tuesday at 7:00 PM Pacific Time in a CONCACAF Champions League Group-Five match (Fox Sports 1).

Portland will host Vancouver in a critical Cascadia Cup clash next Saturday at 2:00 PM Pacific Time (NBCSN).
