Ducks Survive Pac-12-Opening Road Scare Against Cougs

At Pullman, Washington:

Despite being sacked five times, quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 329 yards and five touchdowns on Saturday night as the Oregon Ducks (#2 in the Associated Press poll, #3 in the USA Today/Coaches rankings; 4-0 overall, 1-0 in Pac-12 play) survived a major scare on the road and held off the Washington State Cougars (1-3, 0-1) 38-31 in their Pac-12 Conference opener.

The game was a battle of two of the Football Bowl Subdivision's top offenses.
