MLS Cup Playoffs: RSL Prove Too Much For Timbers In West Final Opener; Stoppage-Time Tally Keeps Portland In Series


At Sandy, Utah:

Chris Schuler (35'), Robbie Findley (41'), Devon Sandoval (48'), and Javier Morales (82') provided the scoring as Real Salt Lake got the measure of the visiting Portland Timbers 4-2 on Sunday in the opening game of the two-match Major League Soccer  Western Conference playoff final.  The Timbers' goals came courtesy of Will Johnson (14') and Frederic Piquionne (90'+3).

The series will conclude Sunday after next (November 24) at Jeld Wen Field in Portland, Oregon (6:00 PM Pacific Time, ESPN).
