Michael Nanchoff (9') and Jack Jewsbury (55') provided the goals as the Portland Timbers blanked the visiting Tampa Bay Rowdies of the second-division North American Soccer League 2-0 on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinal round of the US Open Cup, setting up a road contest in Frisco, Texas against FC Dallas (ironically, the Timbers next Major League Soccer opponent, who they host this coming Saturday). The Timbers' unbeaten run in all competitions now stands at fourteen games.
