Palace Malice, with jockey Mike Smith aboard, won the 145th edition of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday with Preakness winner Oxbow finishing second, and Kentucky Derby winner Orb third. Palace Malice, a 13-1 shot who was one of five horses trained by Mike Pletcher, became the seventh horse since 2000 to run in the Derby, skip the Preakess, then win the Belmont.
