Jump Up For Ducks; Beavers Fall Out Of Rankings

Following their 72-0 dismemberment of New Mexico this past Saturday, the Oregon Ducks climbed up from 11th to 7th in the latest Associated Press media poll.  

After their tough setback against TCU, Oregon State, who had been ranked 24th, fell out of the AP poll, but did get some votes and would be rated #29.

Roughriders Win Tough Battle With Blue Bombers

At Regina, Saskatchewan:

Quarterback Darian Durant ran eleven yards for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter as the Saskatchewan Roughriders (6-3) held off the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-7) 27-23 in Sunday Canadian Football League action.

Frogs Top Beavs At Jerry's House

At Arlington, Texas:

Quarterback Andy Dalton ran for two touchdowns and threw for another one as #6 Texas Christian defeated #24 Oregon State 30-21 Saturday night in the season-opening contest for both teams.

Both rankings are from the Associated Press media poll.

At Eugene, Oregon:


Quarterback Darron Thomas, making his first start, completed 13 of 23 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns while Kenjon Barner ran for a career-high 147 yards and four scores before catching a pass for another TD as the #11 (AP Poll) Oregon Ducks annihilated visiting New Mexico 72-0 on Saturday in the regular-season opener for both teams.  In this contest, Cliff Harris became the first Duck ever to run back two punts for touchdowns in the same game, scoring on runbacks of 61 and 64 yards.

Coming off the bench in his first game in an Ole Miss uniform, exiled Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli completed seven of ten passes for 109 yards and was intercepted once as the Rebels blew a 31-10 halftime lead and lost in double overtime 49-48 at home to FCS (formerly Division 1-AA) school Jacksonville State of Alabama, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Cammie King Conlon, Played Rhett and Scarlett's Doomed Daughter In "GWTW," R. I. P.

Cammie King Conlon, the former child actress who portrayed Bonnie Blue Butler, the doomed daughter of Scarlett and Rhett in the epic 1939 motion picture "Gone With the Wind," passed away on Wednesday morning from lung cancer at her Fort Bragg, California home at the age of 76.
