BLUE BOMBERS SKIN TICATS FOR FIRST GREY CUP TITLE IN 29 YEARS

Winnipeg native Andrew Harris, named the game's Most Valuable Player, ran for 134 yards and scored two touchdowns while Justin Medlock kicked six field goals on Sunday as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers dominated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33-12 to win their first Grey Cup championship since 1990.

The Riders won their first Banjo Bowl Trophy since 2014.

Riders Hold Off Bombers In Regina For Third Straight Win

At Regina, Saskatchewan:

In Sunday Canadian Football League action, the Saskatchewan Roughriders (5-4; 10 points) racked up their third straight victory, 38-24 over the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers (7-3; 14 points), ending their guests' five-game winning streak while climbing out of the Western Division basement in the process.

For the Riders, quarterback Kevin Glenn threw for three touchdowns and 386 yards.

Bombers Ruin Riders' New Mosaic Stadium Debut With OT Win

Justin Medlock kicked the game winning field goal in the second overtime period on Canada Day as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers opened their Canadian Football League regular season by knocking off the Saskatchewan Roughriders (0-2) 43-40, ruining the Riders' first game at their new home facility, the new Mosaic Stadium.

Justin Medlock kicked a game-winning 42-yards field goal as time expired on Sunday to carry the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (6-4) to a 28-25 Canadian Football League road victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-9).

The Bombers have now won five straight games while the Riders have now dropped six in a row.

Brett Smith completed 19 of 25 passes for 211 yards and a touchdown while Nic Demski ran back a punt 60 yards for another major score in the second quarter and Paul McCallum tacked on three field goals on Sunday as the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-9), in their first game under new head coach Bob Dyce (who replaced the fired Corey Chamblin), manhandled the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-7) 37-19 for their first Canadian Football League victory of the season.

Riders Lose Season Opener---And Starting QB For Season With Ruptured Achilles

At Regina, Saskatchewan:

Running back Paris Cotton ran for 108 and caught a touchdown pass while fellow back Cameron Marshall ran for a TD and caught a pass for another score on Saturday as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers knocked off the Saskatchewan Roughriders 30-26 in the Canadian Football League regular-season opener for both clubs.

Not only did the Riders lose at home to the Bombers for the first time since 2004, they lost their starting quarterback Darian Durant for the season with a ruptured Achilles which he suffered in the first half.

Anthony Allen scored the game-winning touchdown with 28 seconds remaining on Sunday as the Saskatchewan Roughriders (7-2) pulled out a 35-30 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers (6-4) in Canadian Football League action.

The victory was the 'Riders' sixth straight.
