NFL Playoffs: Jags, Saints Hold On For Home Wins To Advance

The opening round of the National Football League Playoffs concluded on Sunday with two games.

AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At Jacksonville, Florida:

Blake Bortles threw for a touchdown to Ben Koyack in the third quarter (and he ran for 88 yards to boot) as the Jacksonville Jaguars won their first home playoff game in 18 years by defeating the visiting Buffalo Bills 10-3.

This coming Saturday, the Tennessee Titans will visit the New England Patriots in an AFC divisional playoff (5:15 PM Pacific Time, CBS) while the Jaguars will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in the other AFC divisional playoff next Sunday (10:05 AM Pacific Time, CBS).



NATIONAL FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At New Orleans:

Drew Brees threw for 376 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the New Orleans Saints held off the visiting Carolina Panthers 31-26 in an opening-round playoff contest that enabled the Saints to complete a three-game season-series sweep of the Panthers.

The Atlanta Falcons will visit the Philadelphia Eagles this coming Saturday in an NFC divisional playoff (1:35 PM Pacific Time, NBC) while the Minnesota Vikings will host the Saints next Sunday (1:40 PM Pacific Time, FOX).
