NCAA South: Tar Heels, UK To Face Off Sunday For Final Four Berth

The semifinal round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's South Region took place on Friday with two games contested at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee:

In the opener, Joel Berry II scored 26 points while Justin Jackson added 24 as the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (30-7) outlasted the fourth-seeded Butler Bulldogs (25-9) 92-80 to advance to 26th Elite Eight.

Luke Maye contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds (his first career double-double) to the Heels' cause.

Andrew Chrabascz topped the Bulldogs with 21 points while grabbing seven rebounds.



In the nightcap, De'Aaron Fox scored a career-high 39 points (an NCAA Tourney single-game record for a freshman) as the second-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (32-5) downed the third-seeded UCLA Bruins (31-5) 86-75.

Malik Monk added 21 points to the 'Cats' coffers.


It will be a battle of college basketball bluebloods as Kentucky and North Carolina will square off in Memphis on Sunday for a berth in the Final Four.
