Timbers Score Twice In OT, Oust Seven-Man Sounders In Open Cup Match, Advance To Fifth Round

At Tukwila, Washington:

Rodney Wallace scored the winning goal in the 100th minute on Tuesday as the Portland Timbers ousted the defending champions Seattle Sounders 3-1 on the road in overtime in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament in a contest that saw the Sounders, who suffered their first-ever defeat at Starfire Sports Stadium,  reduced to seven men with three players ejected and another one lost to injury after they had used up all three of their allotted substitutions.

The Timbers' next Open Cup match will take place on June 30 or July 1 with the opponent and site to be determined in a draw scheduled for Thursday.

Portland, with a three-match league winning streak (four in a row in all competitions), will host the Houston Dynamo in their next Major League Soccer contest this coming Saturday at 7:30 PM Pacific Time (Timbers broadcasting network via KPTV in Portland).
