Betsy Palmer, the bubbly sugar-cookie blonde best remembered by baby boomers as a long-time panelist on the original version of TV's I've Got A Secret and to a younger generation as a villainess in the 1980 horror film "Friday the 13th," passed away this past Friday in hospice care near her Danbury, Connecticut home at age 88.
In the early 1950s, Miss Palmer began making frequent appearances on televised drama anthology programs, some of them telecast live.
In 1955, Betsy made the first of nearly 200 appearances as a panelist on the CBS Network program I've Got A Secret. By 1957, she became a regular panelist on the show and would remain so until it was canceled in 1967.
In 1980, Betsy played the role of the insanely murderous camp cook Mrs. Voorhees in the motion picture "Friday the 13th."
Betsy became the third former IGAS panelist to pass away in the past half-year with Bess Myerson passing away last December and Jayne Meadows Allen this past April.
