Tony Gwynn, a baseball Hall of Famer who spent his entire 20-year career with the San Diego Padres, passed away on Monday from cancer at the age of 54.
During the course of Mr. Gwynn's career, he was one of Major League Baseball's best contact and average hitters ever.
Tony won the National League batting championship eight times.
He played in both of the Padres' World Series appearances (1984, 1998).
Tony received 97.6% of the vote in 2007 when he appeared for the first and last time on the BBWAA ballot when he elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame.
