Steve Rossi, a suave crooner who found fame as half of one of the most successful comedy teams of the 1960s, passed away at a hospice near his Las Vegas home on Sunday at age 82 from cancer.
Mr. Rossi had been working in Las Vegas when, at the suggestion of Nat King Cole, teamed up with bug-eyed comedian Marty Allen.
Steve was the good looking chap who sang while Marty (who's still with us at age 92) was this frizzy-haired zany childlike fellow who got the laughs.
They made numerous appearances on 1960s television including The Ed Sullivan Show. On a couple of occassions on the Sullivan show, they appeared on the same bill as The Beatles.
They starred in the 1966 Paramount picture "The Last of the Secret Agents," which was not a critical or box-office success. Two years later, the act broke up.
