Welcome To Another Saturday At The Movies

On this week's program, we'll start with a 1937 Hugh Harman-Rudolf Ising cartoon released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, "Swing Wedding."  In this one, such top personalities as Cab Calloway, Fats Waller, Louis Armstrong, Ethel Waters, Stepin' Fetchit, and the Boswell Sisters are caricatured as frogs.  The bullfrogs hold a jam session for Minnie the Moocher's wedding day.  Uncredited personnel include Jack Caldwell, Hugh Harman, and William Hanna on story; Thomas McKimson and Larry Martin, animation; The Four Blackbirds, voice characterizations; Scott Bradley, music.

Enjoy!

Next, up, shown in two parts, from Columbia Pictures, The Three Stooges star in their only Academy Award-nominated short, "Men In Black."  In this 1934 two-reeler, yes, Moe, Larry, and Curly are doctors.  With story and screenplay by Felix Adler, this film was directed by Raymond McCarey.
