Timbers Upend Caps, Win West Title And Cascadia Cup

At Portland, Oregon:

In the Major League Soccer regular-season finale for both clubs, Liam Ridgewell (32') and Darren Mattocks (48') each scored once as the Portland Timbers came from behind to knock off the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 to win the Cascadia Cup for the first time since 2012 and lock up the Western Conference regular-season championship.

Kendall Waston scored for the Caps in the 29th minute.

The Timbers' next game is slated for next Saturday or Sunday as they open their Western Conference two-game semifinal series on the road (at Houston, Sporting Kansas City, or San Jose), with time and network to be announced.

The return match will be played in Portland on November 5.
