The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Monday with two games.
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
At New York:
Two power-play goals, the first from Brad Richards with 7.6 seconds remaining in regulation, and the second, from Marc Staal, 95 seconds into overtime, carried the New York Rangers to a 3-2 come-from-behind home win over the Washington Capitals to give them a three-games-to-two conference semifinal series advantage. The Rangers can close out the series and reach their first conference final since 1997 with a win at Washington on Wednesday night.
WESTERN CONFERENCE:
At Glendale, Arizona:
Derek Morris and Martin Hanzal scored second-half goals and Mike Smith stopped 32 of 33 shots as the Phoenix Coyotes eliminated the Nashville Predators with their 2-1 game-five home victory, enabling them to win their conference semifinal series four games to one. For the first time in their 33-year NHL history, the Coyotes have reached a conference final, in which they would have home ice advantage against the Los Angeles Kings.
